You are the music in me. Yes, it's a High School Musical reference.
Nicolas' classes for the day had been over hours ago, but he was practising. His fingers hurt, some of the hair that had escaped the tie was sticking against his brow and he had no intention of stopping any time soon. He played furiously, challenging himself with speed, because it seemed like softness was beyond him today.
There was no mastery of the violin, he would always be a student, but sometimes learning brought him closer to feeling at peace than he ever had before.

I'm a professional.
Going over the notes I jotted down during the recital I need to review for the paper and it occurred to me how much easier that would be if I had any damn idea about music whatsoever. To illustrate:
'freaky'
'i like this melody'
'dumdumdadumda'
'kinda disturbing'
'how fast are these guy's fingers'
'i bet he's great at tetris'
'what am i hearing'
'cool solo thing'
'are people only allowed to pick up violin if they look like that?'
In conclusion, I guess I gotta read something about music or ask people with actual knowledge about what they thought of the recital. Any takers?
